14 district teachers receive professional status
Town teachers are hard at work and sharp as a point.
Fourteen district teachers achieved Professional Teacher Status, which became effective Aug. 25. The status is a legal designation for educators who have mastered teaching skills and are meeting or exceeding state performance standards.
Wareham Educators Association, the School Committee and Superintendent Amy Hartley-Matteson congratulated the teachers at the School Committee’s meeting Thursday, Oct. 16.
Some of the teachers were alumni of Wareham schools.
“Earning PTS represents years of teaching, reflection, growth and dedication to our students. It recognizes the skill, care and professional judgment these educators bring to the classroom,” Hartley-Matteson said. “Thank you for setting high expectations, building relationships with our students to help them feel they belong and continuing to grow in your practice.”
The teachers were Allyson Bell, team chair; Cassandra Carpenter, special education; Meghan Costa, special education; Cameron Decas, special education; Madeline Hennessey, elementary; Brandy Lussier, business; Elizabeth Marr, speech-language pathologist; Danielle Miceli, special education; Mary Morgan, team chair; Cody Nickerson, special education, Geoffrey O’Brien, elementary; Victoria Regan, guidance counselor; Aidan Ridings, special education; and Carol Spenard, assistant principal.
