Lois Ellen Ladd, 92
WAREHAM- Lois Ellen Ladd, 92, of Wareham, died peacefully in her home in the company of family on Saturday, September 6, 2026. Born on July 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Elmer Tribou and Wilma Griffin.
She was raised in Onset, which maintained a special place in her heart. Lois was a proud Class of 1952 graduate of Wareham High School, and later attended night school at Cape Cod Community College to receive her associates degree. After graduating high school, she married Howard L. Ladd, Jr. of Wareham, in 1953. Lois was a hard worker throughout her life with particularly fond memories of her time working the Onset Beach concession stand while a high school senior, and later of her time working for ComElectric. Additionally, a Girl Scout in her youth, she later happily gave her time and devotion as a Girl Scout leader.
She will be fondly remembered for her wit and wisdom, particularly her motto, “Don’t should on me,” and her never-ending sense of fun, especially her love of swimming in the summer. A world traveler, she has left her mark not only in Massachusetts, but in Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Florida, Canada, and even further away in England, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Ladd) Demoranville and her husband Thomas of Harrodsburg, KY, Carol (Ladd) Kerstein of Wareham, Howard Ladd, III of Carver, Lisa (Ladd) Bussenger and her husband Michael of Rochester, Jennifer (Ladd) Cook and her husband Brian of Rochester, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and a nephew, and also by Bill Wilson and his family. She was predeceased by her brother Earl Tribou of Florida.
Visiting hours will be held at Chapman Funerals & Cremations – Wareham, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham on Friday, September 18, from 4:00 to 7:00. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, at 10:00am, with a graveside service to follow at Center Cemetery in Wareham. A celebration of life will be held following the funeral at the Congregational Church Function Hall in Wareham.
