LAKEVILLE — The public is invited to visit Assawompsett Elementary School, 232 Main St. in Lakeville from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 16 to view the newly installed windows and doors at the school, which have helped transform the school into what officials describe as a more modern facility.

In conjunction with the open house, visitors are encouraged to donate children’s sneakers and coats in good condition for Gifts to Give, a local non-profit that collects items for those in need.  

The donations are being collected in conjunction with the Assawompsett Elementary School’s Kids Cabinet, a group of 24 students, with one from each classroom, who represent their peers through their voices and actions.
