James R Billotte, 1953-2026
Jimmy grew up in Dedham, Massachusetts, and spent his summers at Parkwood Beach in Wareham.
He loved the salt water, digging for clams, fishing, swimming, and beach parties. Later, he made the beach cottage his year-round home and spent summer weekends aboard his sailboat, Oz. He found joy relaxing at the mooring and sailing on Buzzards Bay. Jimmy also loved good food, cooking for others, and gathering with friends to share meals and laughter. A gifted mechanic and problem-solver, he repaired engines in large trucks and later boat engines. Working at the boatyard brought together his talent for solving problems, teaching and his love of salt water. He is survived by his wife, Maureen (Murphy) Billotte; his sisters, Jeanne Perry and Maureen Ferguson; and his cousin, Mary Claire Gilchrist. For 60 years, the residents of Parkwood Beach were his extended family. He was able to remain at home and gently transitioned to his next chapter on September 25.
We will all miss his smile, his laughter, his excellent cooking, and dancing with him. Peace on his continued journey.
