Team South Coast Bikeway raised $42,895 at the Buzzards Bay watershed ride on Oct. 4. The team rides to support clean water and promote the South Coast Bikeway.
The South Coast Bikeway advocates extending the region’s shared-use paths, many that are on the watershed ride’s route.
The team was first place in fundraising for the third time, and they’ve raised $178,000 for clean water over the past 11 years. By hitting an early $10,000 milestone, it unlocked an anonymous donor matching $10,000 in donations. A second donor matched another $10,000 directly to the South Coast Bikeway.
President Sandra Medeiros said the South Coast Bikeway Alliance is volunteer-based and donations go directly toward their causes, including safer bike and walking routes, spreading awareness and securing state grants to complete the bikeway network.
