MIDDLEBORO — Middleboro High School 2023 graduate Dorothy Ferrigno is making waves nationally. She won a National Student Production Award on Thursday, Feb. 1 for two short films that she directed when she was a senior in high school. 

Ferrigno said that since graduating from high school, she has been pursuing a career in digital media. “I accept this award with such gratitude and truly appreciate this incredible honor,” Ferrigno said. “Digital media is my passion.”

One of the videos that earned Ferrigno the best director award was a music video for the song “Bad Things.” The second video that Ferrigno earned the best director award for was a short film titled “10:13.”

In total, Middleboro students and graduates were nominated five times on Dec. 21, 2023 for the 2023 National Student Production Awards, which are awarded by the same organization that administers the Emmys.

Ferringo received three nominations: best director, best photographer, and best editor. Another Middleboro graduate, Savannah Byrne, received a nomination for the “talent - performer” category for her acting in a film directed by Ferrigno. Three additional students — Ryan Fahey, Kaylynn Provonche and Sean Toomey — were nominated for an award in the “fiction - long form” category.

In her acceptance speech, Ferrigno thanked her television production teacher at the High School, Adam Pelletier, “for his guidance and mentorship.”
