One dead, one injured in Middleboro crash

MIDDLEBORO — One person is dead and another is injured following a two-car crash in Middleboro on Friday, Feb. 9.
At approximately 1:30 p.m., Middleboro Police and Fire Departments responded to Route 28 in the area of Cushman and Rocky Gutter streets for a report of a head-on crash.
Route 28 is closed to traffic between Cushman and Rocky Gutter streets while first responders stay on scene.
Upon arrival, first responders observed that a UPS truck and an SUV collided and caught fire, announced the departments in a press release.
The driver of the truck was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.
The driver of the SUV was transported to an area hospital where they died from their injuries.
According to the Middleboro Police Department, the identity of the driver is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
The drivers were the sole occupants in each vehicle, according to police.
The crash is under investigation by the Middleboro Police Department with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
