Rabies packets to be distributed to keep wildlife healthy

Apr 23, 2024

A vaccine to reduce rabies in wildlife will be distributed in packets in Middleboro and Lakeville May 6 to 10 by air and vehicle and May 6 to 27 in bait stations, the state Department of Public Health has announced.

Anyone who finds a vaccine/bait packet should use a glove or towel to throw it in the woods where children and pets will not find it. If no suitable place is available, throw it in the trash.

Anyone who has had contact with the liquid vaccine should wash the area thoroughly after handling the packet. If pets eat or have contact with the bait, they will not be harmed.

In any case of contact, report it to 877-722-6725.
