Kathryn (Kitty) Rounsville, 102
MIDDLEBORO - Kathryn (Kitty) Rounsville passed away peacefully September 1, 2026 at the age of 102. Born September 27, 1923 in New Bedford, MA, Kitty is survived by her nephews Tyler Blethen Jr. and Sam Perry, great nephew David Gibbs, and great nieces Bethany Chandler and Lisa Pricher. She is preceded in death by her husband Joseph B Rounsville (1998), her sister Winifred Blethen (Tyler Blethen), and brother Paul M. Gibbs, as well as her nephew Paul D. Gibbs and niece Johanna Gibbs.
Kitty was an avid nature lover and active throughout her life, skiing, hiking, camping and visiting national parks throughout the US. She was a birdwatcher, traveling the country to see them near and far, and making sure they were well fed until her last day. Into her 80s, Kitty could be spotted on her kayak or her bike enjoying the outdoors. A true New Englander, Kitty loved clam chowder, lobster rolls, and grape nut ice cream. The screen porch was her favorite spot to sit with a book or a cold beer, enjoying her garden and the birds.
Kitty retired as the Director of Occupational Therapy at Lakeville Hospital. History was a passion of hers and she devoted much of her time to the Wareham Historical Society’s Fearing Tavern Museum, where she was a docent, and happily led talks wearing her signature purple dress. Kitty was a parishioner at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Wareham.
A graveside service will be held at Agawam Cemetery, Stillman Memorial Drive, Wareham on Saturday, September 26 at 11:30 am. Family and friends are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to The Wareham Historical Society, the Audubon Society, and the Church of the Good Shepherd.
