Letter to the Editor: Thank you to our first responders
To the editor:
To All Involved,
In reference to the May 12, 2026 unfortunate incident that occurred at Target’s side entrance, we would like to thank the two ladies that came to our assistance [after my husband and I fell]. The first called 911, and the second assisted me into a sitting position, allowed me to lean against her and managed to obtain an ice pack for my displaced ankle. The two police officers assisted my husband upright and onto the wheel chair cart, brought out by a Target employee.
We give many thanks to the first responders. They splinted my leg, started an IV and transferred us both to Tobey Hospital. The emergency room evaluated Al and discharged him home with his daughters. I stayed.
My experience at Tobey Hospital’s emergency room was excellent. The operating room team and care were superb. The remainder of my stay was on the surgical floor. The nurses and their care were great.
Based on this hospital experience I would highly recommend Tobey Hospital.
The next month was spent at Sippican Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for physical therapy. The PT therapists were excellent, as well as patient and compassionate. The nurses and aides were great, and all other personnel were proficient. I would suggest this as a first choice if this type of service is ever needed.
We are most grateful to all we encountered and to those that touched our lives. Again, we thank you. It’s been a long five months. I continue with PT and am recovering nicely. Thank You!
